“An artist is a dreamer consenting to dream of the actual world.”
George Santayana
One, two, three, four… do you know when the seconds become minutes, and the minutes became hours? That’s what you feel when you are waiting for something to happen or for someone; regarding about the locations, one of the most common is the airport: when you are waiting for someone at the arrivals, you start to feel the butterflies in your stomach, you keep looking at the flights schedule timetable and obviously there is the routine of taking your phone off, and keep looking at it just in case you miss the text or the phone call saying: I’ve just landed. There are thousands moments like these in our life, a friend once told me: don’t ever wait for anyone, it’s true, but sometimes waiting is one of the most exciting thing ever.
For an artist, I would say that one of the most incredible and important waiting time during his career is his first art exhibition. Some people have been planning all this in a really long time, it is the perfect chance to get to know to the other people your work, your passions, your world.
Suddenly sometimes art isn’t take as seriously as other interests, do you want to be an artist? Are you crazy? How can you even think of having success in a world so full of competition? I have heard many people saying this, not only teachers or grown up people, even a teenager can think about art just as an imaginary world, or something with no future.
“Art is the only way to run away without leaving home.”
Twyla Tharp
An artist is first of all someone with courage, who is willing to take risk, who is willing to express his emotions and let the others to see them through his soul. There are many books and movies inspired by the artist life, many locations that are so suggestive who can give you and idea what’s behind this mysterious and fascinating world. In my opinion one of the MUST SEE place for the art lovers is Montmarte in Paris, every time I walk through Place du Tertre ( known as the square of the arists, due to the many stand) I feel enchanted by the incredible atmosphere, and the feeling of being a child again.
A must see movie for example is : “ What dreams May Come”, a drama American film that tells about life, imagination and the rule of the art in our lives. Great film with great actors. I believe we are all artists, we can express our artistic ability in different ways, the artist isn’t only a painter, a sculptor or an architect, an artist is someone who can see the world without being afraid of feel the emotions, of being himself, of looking after the appearance, someone how isn’t afraid to live with a passion of a child.
I would like to invite you to see an exhibition in London, from the 19th of April to 21st of April, it is shown at the hArts Lane Studios: Version O.1 an exhibition by Central Saint Martins Fine Arts students of London, it is a chance to appreciate the art of the future, we are the future thus we need to be supportive for the one who believe they will make a difference, who believe in the magic world of the art. I would like to conclude this article, with a personal quote:
“ Art is like love at first sight I fell in love with the one who can catch
my attention without saying a word, it’s the most intriguing poetry.”
